Position purpose: Software engineer
This position is responsible for software solutions: develop, maintain, test and evaluate solutions.

Location: Combinatul Siderurgic Galati
Department: Automation Department - SImulation, MOdels and Progress (SIMOP) Section.

Main responsibilities:

• To builds large-scale data processing systems
• To builds high-performance algorithms
• To apply technologies to solve big data problems and to develop innovative big data solutions
• To implement complex big data projects with a focus on collecting, parsing, managing, analyzing and visualizing large sets of data to turn information into insights using multiple platforms
• To be able to develop prototypes and proof of concepts for the selected solutions
• To develop algorithms, modeling techniques, and optimization methods that support many aspects of the ArcelorMittal Galati activities in different sectors
• To work with universities, and with others external Research and Development team

Technical Skills:

• Experience with Hadoop based technologies such as MapReduce, Hive MongoDB or Cassandra
• Experience in data warehousing solutions and should be able to work with the latest (NoSQL) database technologies
• Experience with object-oriented design, coding and testing patterns
• Knowledge in different programming or scripting languages like Java, C++, PHP, Ruby, Phyton and/or R
• Knowledge of different architectures of operating systems: Microsoft server, Linux (CENTOS, RHEL, DEBIAN)
• Experience in building data processing systems with Hadoop and Hive using Java or Python

• To be able to work with cloud computing environments
• To have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or software engineering

• To be able to assist in documenting requirements as well as resolve conflicts or ambiguities
• To be able to tune Hadoop solutions to improve performance and end-user experience
• To have strong co-ordination and project management skills to handle complex projects
• Fluent in English - Other languages will be considered a plus
• Academic background and foundation in theories underlying machine learning and artificial intelligence techniques (i.e. dynamic programming, mathematical optimization)
